Headshot Preparation Tips

Hey there! Getting ready for your headshot session? Awesome! I've got some great tips to help you look your absolute best. Let's dive in:

1. Wardrobe Choices

When selecting your outfits, opt for solid colors over busy patterns as they can be distracting in photos. Darker solid shades tend to be more flattering and photograph better while keeping the focus on your face. Colors like navy, gray, and jewel tones are usually very flattering. Avoid Patterns since busy patterns and logos can be distracting and might not translate well in photos. Stick with simple, clean designs. Neutrals can be a safe bet, but make sure they don’t wash you out. Try different shades to see what complements your skin tone.

2. Grooming

For the ladies, keep your makeup natural and light. Remember to tidy up your eyebrows as they frame your face. Stick to your usual skincare routine before your appointment. Introducing new products could cause unexpected reactions or breakouts. Tidy up your eyebrows by plucking or waxing a few days before the shoot. Avoid doing this the day before to prevent redness or irritation.

For Men, If you usually shave, do so the morning of the shoot for a clean look. If you have facial hair, make sure it's neatly trimmed and well-groomed. Define the edges to give a sharp, clean look.

3. Hair

If you plan on getting a haircut, aim to do so about a week before the shoot to allow it to settle. Style your hair in a way that feels natural to you. Avoid trying new hairstyles right before the shoot.

4. Rest and Hydrate

Prioritize getting a good night's sleep before your session. Hydrate well leading up to the day for fresh and vibrant skin.

5. Relax and Smile

Feeling a bit nervous is completely normal. Try to relax and think positive thoughts. A genuine smile always shines through in photos and Michele will guide you through the session to ensure you feel comfortable and can be your genuine self.

6. Avoid Sunburns and Tanning

It's best to maintain a natural skin tone. Avoid tanning, whether from the sun or a booth, at least a week before your shoot to prevent any issues in photos.
